One of the Sufi Tariqats in Islam is the Naqshbandi Tariqat. Bahauddin Muhammad Naqshband Bukharai is considered the founder of the Naqshbandi Tariqat. The origin of the Naqshbandi Tariqat dates back to Khorasan in the 8th century AH. As this Tariqat spread from Khorasan to Iraq and Azerbaijan, Kurdistan gradually became one of the regions where the Naqshbandi Tariqat propagated and expanded from the 12th century AH. This research investigates the causes and methods behind the expansion of the Naqshbandiyya in Kurdistan. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach and seeks to answer the question: What factors contributed to the expansion of the Naqshbandiyya in the Kurdistan regions of Iran and Iraq? The research findings indicate that the proselytizing activities of the Naqshbandi Sheikhs, who maintained peaceful relations with the governments, attracted many people to this Sufi order. The Naqshbandi Sheikhs gained acceptance among the people by earning the support of the rulers of Kurdistan and engaging in religious and charitable activities, such as building mosques, establishing monasteries, and assisting the needy and poor. Over time, Sufi monasteries and gathering centers, in addition to their religious functions, began to play political and economic roles in the society of Kurdistan.
