The fall of the Safavid dynasty in 1135 AH caused new crises inside and outside the country. During this period, urban and rural society was exposed to danger due to the chaotic political and social situation, and the demolition of physical resources and human factors caused great damage to the demographic structure. The main question of this article is how the factors affecting the reduction of Iran’s population in the 12th century AH took place. In this article, relying on a descriptive and explanatory approach, the effect of the socio-political status on the decline of Iran’s population is investigated. The findings of the research show that in this century, urban and rural society suffered a decrease in population due to factors such as political instability and insecurity, frequent massacre, famine, diseases, and migration.
