The subject of this research is the examination of Iran’s role in the migration and employment of Jewish German physicians during the First Pahlavi period (1304-1320). The study specifically analyzes various aspects related to the migration conditions and professional endeavors of these Jewish German doctors seeking to relocate to Iran. The data for this research was gathered through a documentary-library approach and subsequently analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method.
During the First Pahlavi era, the Iranian government actively sought to attract and employ foreign physicians as part of its efforts to modernize the country’s healthcare infrastructure. The rise of Nazism in Germany in 1933 and the subsequent unemployment of Jewish physicians facilitated Iran’s ability to hire skilled Jewish German medical doctors. However, due to administrative inefficiencies during that time, it appears that Iran couldn’t fully capitalize on the opportunity to enhance its healthcare infrastructure through the employment of these German Jewish physicians.
