Assessing the ideas of Iranian ethnic groups and elites about their national identity is more necessary today than ever to pave the way for the integration and national unity of Iranians. The subject of this article is a reflection on Abolghasem Lahouti's views and ideas about Iranian national identity. The present study was conducted to investigate the components of Iranian national identity in the Abolghasem Lahouti's Divan using content analysis method. It examined and evaluated a series of predetermined variables in the Poetry Divan. This means that in order to study the four components of Iranian national identity (including national and ancient values, cultural values of the post-Islamic period, religious values, modern and Western values), certain criteria were considered and the researcher counted and calculated the relevant symbols in the content of the mentioned work. The results of this study indicate that Lahouti, as a patriotic poet and fighter, has always been loyal to the national and cultural values of Iranian identity. Writing works in the style of Shahnameh such as Irannameh and translating Shahnameh Ferdowsi into Russian by the help of his wife is a confirmation of the poet's commitment to his homeland and the preservation and expansion of Iranian values in the world. In other words, Lahouti, despite the ideological changes he experienced during his exile and distance from Iran, but Iranianism and love for the homeland and the desire to visit the homeland, has been an integral part of the poet's thoughts. The necessity and importance of the issue is to express the contribution that the nationalist elites of Kermanshah have made in the contemporary history in the unity and convergence among the Iranian ethnic groups.
