Abstract

The fall of the Safavid dynasty in 1135 AH created new crises in the domestic and foreign fields for the country. During this period, urban and rural society was endangered due to the chaotic political and social conditions. In addition, the destruction of physical and human resources caused severe damage to the population structure. The main question of the present article is how the factors affecting the reduction of Iran's population in the 12th century took place. Here, an attempt has been made to investigate the effect of socio-political conditions on the problem by relying on the descriptive and explanatory approach. The findings of the research show that the urban and rural society of this period has undergone demographic changes due to factors such as political instability and security, frequent killings, famine, disease and migration.
