Since, the government was responsible for establishing a metric system, it turned into a tool to achieve the government goals. The present study examines the process of establishing the metric system in Iran and the goals of Reza Shah's government from the establishment of the metric system using a descriptive-explanatory method. Here, the main question is what goals the Reza Shah government pursued in establishing the metric system.  The findings indicate that the connection with Western civilization and the need to investigate Iran's backwardness led to the correction of weights and values ​​based on the metric system to facilitate trade. The metric system has been established not only to facilitate trade, but also to increase government control and oversight of all members of the society. در دورۀ قاجاریّه و به‌دنبال مواجهۀ بیش از پیش ایرانیان با تمدّن غربی، ضرورت نوسازی در عرصۀ واحدهای اندازه‌گیری، ذیل عنوان نظام متریک از سوی سیاستمداران و اندیشمندان احساس شد و در دورۀ رضاشاه پهلوی از طرف دولت مورد اجرا قرار گرفت و چون این مهمّ را دولت بر عهده داشت استقرار نظام متریک ابزاری برای تأمین اهداف حکومت شد. پژوهش حاضر به ‌روش توصیفی- تبیینی با بررسیِ روند استقرار نظام متریک در ایران، اهداف دولت رضاشاه از استقرار نظام متریک را به‌عنوان یک مسئله مورد بررسی قرار می‌دهد و به این سؤال اصلی پاسخ می‌دهد که دولت رضاشاه در استقرار نظام متریک چه اهدافی را دنبال می‌کرد؟ یافته‌ها گویای این نکته است که ارتباط با تمدّن غرب و ضرورت واکاوی عقب‌ماندگی ایران، باعث توجّه به‌ اصلاح اوزان و مقادیر بر پایۀ نظام متریک برای تسهیل تجارت شد، ولی، استقرار نظام متریک نه‌فقط در جهت تسهیل در مبادلات بازرگانی، بلکه در جهت کنترل و نظارت بیشتر دولت بر همۀ آحاد جامعه صورت گرفته است. https://tuhistory.tabrizu.ac.ir/article_12962_3154074c9810bb6bcc1a56fc007dec2c.pdf
